While I was reading this article, I notice that your community around you does have a big impact on us. When you are in a neighborhood and you have things around you it is a lot more help. I also have notice that communities that are in a lower income area, they do not have so much resources. They tend to have to drive further for things like the grocery store and shopping centers. I think everyone should at least live near a school because students should be able to walk in case they miss a bus or in for any other cases. Also, being in a community that is close to a freeway causes loud noise which usually lower income houses are near the freeway meaning louder noise. After, reading this article I found out how much our community does matter and its little things we don't notice, because we feel like it's the norm to be by a grocery store with 10 mins by our house, but not everyone has that.

Loop Sketch #6

I read the article on “What Makes You Think That?” Kindergarten Students Analyze Primary Sources from the Library of Congress. Usually at a young age in Kindergarten students do not learn much about social studies in my observations. I like how in this article they showed a picture to promote thinking about it. This is was more a whole group activity. Next they give the students a picture of the statue of liberty and told them to circle what they notice or was wanted to learn more about. In the article it said the students were more engaged in that activity and I think it was because it was more a hands-on activity. In kindergarten they tend to become more engaged in activities that involve them colors or finding ect. I provided a link that talked about kids and families and the liberty of congress for young readers. Children in the kindergarten also like to be read to, so this may also be helpful to help students learn about history.

Loop Sketch #5

I read read the article that talked about investigating the first thanksgiving feast. A teacher was assigned to teacher her students about the first Thanksgiving feast. For her lesson she focused on mainly ‘‘What did the Pilgrims eat at the First Thanksgiving feast?’’I really like the way she taught her lesson, she had a great engage for the students and she also asked the students many great questions to have the students to critically think. She also give the students the opportunity to research Thanksgiving and to learn on their own about it, which I think is great for the students. Overall I think it was a great lesson for students that was very interactive and allowed students to critical think. I provided a link of a short video on how you can introduce Thanksgiving to your students. You can probably show the video of more of a engaged to start the conversation in your class.

I read the article Junior Detectives Teaching, I liked the way it give many examples on how students could dissect a reading. It also has the students asking question to themselves while reading. It allows for students to make a connection when reading an article that way. For example, it talked about the a mystery of the dirty kids, one of the question it said students are probably going to ask themselves is why are the kids dirty? What were they doing so fun to make them dirty? The reason why the kids were dirty has nothing to do with them having fun, they are actually working and kids these days would not be able to understand that. So I like how it show the kids that is not the case, that back then young children had to be put to work. Students will be able to learn that while dissecting the reading in a detective way.

After reading the article about rosa parks, it was very interesting to me, because I never knew she was in her correct seat. I always thought she was sitting at the front of the bus and got asked to moved to the back. The truth is that she was already in the back and just got asked to move because there was not any open seats for the white people getting on the bus. The school did not teach us the right info or just did not want to go into to much detail. They just taught us the shorter version of the story, which I think is it not right because I feel like they are not teaching us the right things of history. Now that I am older I am just now finding out the real truth when I could have learned this a while back.

Loop Sketch #2

In the link above it shows a video of two little boys playing soccer in the front yard. In the reading "a brief history about lawns." In the reading it mention how in some cultures it is weird to have a front lawn. In our culture it would feel weird if we did not have a front lawn. Some thought that if you had a lawn it meal you came from money. In the video you can see the two boys just playing soccer as normal in front of their yards. In so many years yards have been so normal that we even have big yards to play national soccer games or even the super bowl. These are big games that people will pay lots of money for to watch people pay a game on a big piece of grass. I am not sure if they do that in all cultures. I know in Mexico some people will play in dirt instead of grass and I am sure that they aren't the only ones that don't always play in grass.

I think us Americans just look at lawns as normal things we see everyday. Special events can take place on lawns like for example the white house holds a big event on their front of the law to meet queen Elizabeth. It is a special event that is held right on the front yard of the White house. Lawns do not always have to let something special take place on it. You can just drive by neighborhoods and see people cutting the grass or just sitting with their dog or gardening, or you might just see a lawn empty, not everyone uses their lawn. It just however you use your lawn determines if you are grateful for having a lawn or not.

During this reading I got a lot out of it. I liked the reading and how the others wanted to help the workers learn english. The other that already knew english did not have to volunteer to help them learn english. It was out of the goodness of their heart. It was sad that the worker were getting taken advantage of because they did not know english. Each time they learned how to say something new they realized they still had to learn more due to the workforce still taking advantage of them.

In the reading it also mention how he decide to become a teacher and teach the kids critically because he knows they are capable of doing so much more. I love teachers who can see that in students especially the young ones.  He wanted to teach multicultural and wanted to show the students and teacher that doing that helps everyone learn about different cultures. He mention that there is 7 different multicultural and they are all important in their own ways. In my future classroom I want to make sure I have a classroom that is multicultural and that all students can see each one is just as important.
